Ezra Butler

Ezra is a researcher, writer, artist, educator, and consultant about all things color. Since late 2023, he has researched more than 40 different interdisciplinary color-related topics, including:

In addition to writing the weekly Colorphilia newsletter, he has created numerous art collections inspired by his research.

Background

Ezra received a BA in Computer Science, and studied for a MA in History of Comparative Religion. Through the course of his undergraduate and graduate studies, he studied French, Latin, Greek, Judeo-Aramaic and Hebrew. As a graduate student, he worked as a researcher for the Institute of Narratology.

Throughout his career, he has worked as a technology journalist and editor, an interdisciplinary consultant, a technologist, and as director of creative innovation and creative director.

During COVID, Ezra painted his series of Isolation Folders for 150 days (acrylic on manila folders), and released several collections of art from the period.
